We arrived at the Kolm's place on Sunday, as they were coming from the back of their property.  Matt said they had been mowing grass.  Now we had heard they had their very own flying field, so of course that was Dad's first question to Marty..  "So where's your field?"  They took us back to check it out!  Pretty cool to have your very own flying field in your own back yard..

Back at the house, we went in the garage and down the stairs.  What used to be an air pollution testing lab is now our Basement of the Month!!

Here is where they do not build horizontal stabilizers...

This area opens up into a much bigger room with airplanes lining the walls and hanging from the ceiling.

See what I mean about the horizontal stabilizers??  And check out this wild green machine!  This is one of the most unusual planes I've ever seen!!

Around the corner to the left, Planes Galore!!

But wait!  Back up a bit, and there is a door..

Planes here, planes there....  Plenty 'O' Planes everywhere!

Among all the photos on the wall, there were some familiar faces in the R/C world.  Tom Erb, Don Proctor and good ol' Miles Reed!!  There were also pictures of Matt when he started modeling with his Dad two years ago.

Before we left, Marty showed us something from back in the day..  He said when they came out with the Futaba radio with adjustable endpoints he thought it couldn't get any better, but it did a little, huh??!!

That must look like a dinosaur to Matt.  And if Matt sticks with it, he is going to get better too, then watch out!!  After our photo shoot, they joined us at the Balsa Bees field and I had to be quick to get pictures of his little red hot-rod of a plane.

Thank you Matt & Marty for your hospitality.
You guys are Great Balsa Bees!!
